Recreational Water Quality Warning

Posted on December 05, 2024

Meander River (Egmont Reserve), Liffey River (Bracknell River Reserve), South Esk River (Hadspen Lions Park) and Lake Trevallyn (Blackstone Park) are currently unsuitable for recreational use.

Recent water quality testing by Council has found the following sites are currently unsuitable for recreational use such as swimming and water sports:

  • Meander River (at Egmont Reserve, Birralee Road, Westbury).
  • Liffey River (at Bracknell River Reserve, Louisa Street, Bracknell).
  • South Esk River (at Hadspen Lions Park, Main Street, Hadspen).
  • Lake Trevallyn (at Blackstone Park, Blackstone Park Drive, Blackstone Heights).

The Tasmanian Department of Health has been notified, and warning signage has been erected at each of the above sites.

Council will continue to monitor water quality at these sites and will remove warning signage once bacteria levels in the water return below guideline limits.

Recreational water users entering the water during this time do so at their own risk.

If you have any queries regarding this matter, please contact Council on (03) 6393 5300 between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
