Appointment of Meander Valley Council General Manager

Meander Valley Council has announced that Jonathan Harmey has been appointed to the position of General Manager.

Mr Jonathan Harmey, has today been named as Meander Valley Council’s General Manager, to lead the organisation into its next phase, beyond the State Government’s Future of Local Government Review.
Meander Valley Council Mayor Wayne Johnston advised that Jonathan was unanimously endorsed by Councillors at its Council Meeting on 8 August.
“I am pleased to announce our new General Manager has accepted the position and commenced in the role. Jonathan is no stranger to Tasmanian local government or Meander Valley Council as our former Director Corporate Services.”
“Jonathan’s extensive knowledge of local government, combined with his understanding of our council’s strategic and operational priorities, established him as the right person to lead our council. I am looking forward to working closely with Jonathan as we continue to deliver valuable services, important infrastructure projects and continuing the good work council does in our community.”
Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Business Administration and is a Chartered Accountant. With his qualifications and experience, Jonathan is well regarded within the local government sector and brings a great deal of ability to the General Manager’s role.
Mr Harmey said “I am very proud to be provided the opportunity to further contribute to the Meander Valley community. I am looking forward to working with our Councillors and employees, particularly as we commence engaging with our community to develop the Community Strategic Plan. I am grateful for the trust that the Councillors have placed in me and their support to grow our employee base which will ensure we are well placed to best serve our community, we will soon commence recruiting a small number of new roles.”
