Meander Valley Art Award to re-emerge with new categories and sponsor opportunities
Posted on May 24, 2022
The Meander Valley Art Award returns in 2022, embracing concepts of change, growth and new beginnings.
The 2022 Meander Valley Art Award is open to a broad range of media and styles including watercolour, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, oils, textiles, folk art, glass, wood and sculptural works.
Consistent with the related notion of renewal and growth, the award includes a new category of Shed Art that aims to encourage creatives who don’t consider themselves artists to take the bold step and share their work with the public.
Whilst entered works should have their inspiration rooted in the local region, this year’s theme of Metamorphosis affords exploration of traditional, natural and agricultural subject matter as well as the opportunity to diversify into the realms of personal re-invention and contemporary issues of political and social change.
The Meander Valley Art Award exhibit will officially open on 30 September 2022 and run for three weeks in the Westbury Town Hall. Full details, including prizemoney and Calls for Entries to be released in early July.
The Art Award has been running since 2007, and with the support of Meander Valley Council, the Award is largely managed by volunteers from Arts Deloraine and the Launceston Art Society.
“After the interruption of the pandemic, it’s exciting to see the Award re-invented for 2022. With new digital and shed art categories, more people can engage with their creative side,” Arts Deloraine member Craig Zimitat said.
The Meander Valley Art Award could not be delivered without the generous support of sponsors and this year a dedicated sponsorship package has been developed.
“The sponsorship package offers some real value. Not only will sponsors have the opportunity to display their brand, but there are some award naming rights available. Meander Valley identifies very strongly with the arts, and we welcome any support. Whether it’s a little or a lot, it all helps foster creative pursuit in the whole region,” Craig said.
If you are interested in sponsorship options for the 2022 Meander Valley Art Award, you can view the Sponsorship Package here.
