Nominations Are Now Open for the 2026 Australian of the Year Awards

Every day, around Australia, everyday Australians are doing extraordinary things. Each year at the Australian of the Year Awards, we give them the recognition they deserve across four categories.
• Australian of the Year
• Senior Australian of the Year (those aged 65 years or over)
• Young Australian of the Year (ages 16 to 30)
• Australia's Local Hero

The 2026 Australia Day Grant Program will also be opening its gates soon! Each year, the National Australia Day Council offers these grants to help communities like ours bring people together.
The grant program will open on Wednesday, 13 August 2025 for a four-week application period, closing Monday, 8 September 2025. Local governments and not-for-profit organisations can apply for either a $2,000 or $10,000 grant for inclusive community events.
