Meander Valley Road, Westbury - Streetscape Renewal Concept First Look

Get your first glimpse of the exciting Westbury Streetscape upgrade concept: see the development of Meander Valley Road and William Street

Imagine a picturesque streetscape, where the historic charm of Westbury harmoniously merges with modern amenities, vibrant businesses and lush green spaces, all meticulously crafted to enrich our community.

Concept Plan

The Westbury Streetscape encompasses a section of William Street, as well as Meander Valley road from the Westbury Hotel up to the IGA. This concept plan installs new pedestrian crossing nodes, which speak to the need for more pedestrian friendly access for the Meander Valley Road section in Westbury. The addition of a 1.5km long generous footpath along the entirety of the streetscape plan further enables pedestrian access to businesses, community facilities and recreation areas. The refresh of the Westbury Streetscape also addresses the need to revive the historic character of the Westbury township, and aims to do this with the incorporation of;

- Street furniture and artistic elements to provide character and activation
- Strengthening the existing tree overlay with a continuous flowering tree avenue as wayfinding
- Flowering landscape garden at moments along the length of Meander Valley Road & William Street.

Stage One

The Westbury Streetscape project will be a staged update to the current Meander Valley Road and William Street usability and character.

Stage One of the Westbury Streetscape upgrade is expected to transform Meander Valley Road between Franklin Street and Jones Street, including the area around the Westbury Recreation Ground.

This development along Meander Valley Road is all about creating a more pedestrian-friendly space, making it easier to enjoy the local businesses, community hubs and recreation spots in the heart of Westbury.
