Meander Valley Voices (2023 - 2034): Our People, Our Place, Our Future.

Posted on February 27, 2024

Have your say! Meander Valley Council invites residents to share their voice, values, and ideas on who we are and what’s important at our Meander Valley Voices Workshops, as part of the development of our ten year Community Strategic Plan.

Meander Valley Council, in collaboration with specialist facilitators, For The People, Jeder Institute, and SCB Consulting, is excited to announce the commencement of the Meander Valley Voices Community Consultation Workshops throughout March 2024.

These events aim to engage the community in discussions about the present and future of our beloved Meander Valley region and will form the foundation for Council’s Community Strategic Plan: guiding the future of the municipality over the next 10 years.

Scheduled workshop sessions in Deloraine, Prospect, and Westbury will provide platforms for residents to share their voices, ideas, and aspirations.

By actively participating, community members can contribute to shaping the identity, values, and priorities that will guide the region’s development over the next decade.

“We believe that our community’s input is vital in crafting a future that aligns with our collective vision,” said Wayne Johnston, Mayor of Meander Valley Council.

“These workshops serve as avenues for residents to express their perspectives, ensuring that the resulting plans accurately reflect the needs and desires of our diverse population.”

The development of a new, comprehensive Community Strategic Plan will serve as the Council’s primary guiding document, directing service delivery and facilitating collaboration among government agencies, organisations, and residents for the betterment of the Meander Valley region.

The community consultation process will also play a crucial role in informing Council’s ongoing ‘place branding’ project in partnership with award-winning creative agency, For The People.

“We encourage all residents to attend these workshops and actively participate in shaping the future of our community,” Jonathan Harmey, Meander Valley Council General Manager said.

“Your input is invaluable in charting a course that reflects our collective aspirations and ensures a vibrant and sustainable future for generations to come.”
