Meander Valley Council is launching a community wellbeing program to promote community wellbeing through a range of free come and try activities.

LIFT LOCAL Meander Valley will run from 7 September until 28 November with activities offered on either Tuesdays and/or Thursdays each week.

“The program is designed to provide residents with an opportunity to try out new activities, meet new people and increase local participation. It’s all about getting out and about and enjoying all that Meander Valley has to offer,” Mayor Wayne Johnston said.

There are a range of activities for individuals and groups including creative pursuits, passive and active recreation and sporting options for all ages.

“As we head towards the warmer months it’s a great time of year to try something you may not have done before and it’s also a good opportunity to get to know some of Meander Valley’s local businesses and activity providers. A calendar of events for the three month program is now available so if anyone would like to know more, visit Council’s website and take a look at what’s on offer,” Mayor Johnston said.

As places are limited, participants are required to register for activities either online via Eventbrite or by phoning Council’s Community Wellbeing Department on 6393 5379. Registrations can also be made in person at the LIFT LOCAL Meander Valley Launch at Westbury Town Hall, between 1pm – 3pm, on 1 September.

Registrations for activities close 48 hours before the event date or when fully booked out.

LIFT LOCAL Meander Valley is funded by the Healthy Tasmania Fund through the Tasmanian Government and Meander Valley Council.
