Terms and Conditions

  1. Entry is open to all artists, aged 16 years and over.
  2. Artwork submitted should include representations or interpretations of themes that are connected to the Meander Valley municipality.
  3. Artists can submit one artwork only.
  4. Artwork submitted must have been completed within the last 12 months and must not have been previously exhibited elsewhere.
  5. All entries are eligible to receive one of the three major prizes and/or the People’s Choice. The Encouragement Award is restricted to emerging artists who have never won an award before.
  6. All painting and drawing media will be accepted, including, but not limited to, oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, ink, pencil, mixed media and printmaking. Artwork may contain a number of different elements and small amounts of photographic insertions. All artwork submitted must be the sole unaided work of the artist. Wet artwork or copies (prints or photographs) of original artwork will not be accepted.
  7. Two-dimensional artwork should not exceed 1 metre in measurement on any one side (including frame) and should be ready to be hung with ‘D’ rings and wire attached. Unframed stretched canvases are suitable provided the edges are well-finished.
  8. Three-dimensional artwork may be created from a range of media including, but not limited to, recycled material, metal, ceramics, plastics, textiles and paper.
  9. Three-dimensional artwork must be free-standing and able to be safely handled by one person.
  10. Photography, video or audio artwork or artwork with interactive elements is not accepted this year.
  11. Presentation of the artwork must be of a high standard. Scratched or dented frames, badly cut mattes or framing that does not suit the artwork may result in rejection.
  12. Artwork must be clearly labelled on the back, lower right-hand side (two dimensional) or on the underside (three dimensional) with the artist’s name, title of the artwork, medium and sale price.
  13. Space limitations may not permit all artwork to be hung or displayed. If necessary, a selection committee will determine the artwork they consider most suitable for exhibition. Any artwork that does not strictly meet the criteria for exhibition may be excluded. The selection committee’s decisions are final.
  14. All digital images of entries may be reproduced and used whole or in part by the organisers for promotional purposes for publication in print, online and television media. Submitted artwork will also be displayed in an online gallery following the exhibition and archived online at the Meander Valley Council website.
  15. All awards are non-acquisitive, but all artwork must be for sale. There is no commission on sales.

Entry requirements

  1. A high-resolution digital image of the artwork, preferably before framing, is to be submitted with online entries. JPG or TIFF file formats will be accepted, to a maximum 5MB in size. File names must be in the following format:
    lastname_firstname_title.jpg
    lastname_firstname_title.tif
  2. Postal entries should include a good quality photograph of the artwork.
  3. An artist’s statement of no more than 50 words describing how the artwork relates to the Meander Valley should be submitted with the entry form.
  4. A $20.00 non-refundable fee will apply.
  5. Meander Valley Council and Arts Deloraine Inc. will exercise every care with artwork submitted but will not be responsible for the loss of, damage to or breakage of any artwork in its custody, nor for the insurance of submitted artwork either in transit or before, during or after the exhibition. Exhibitors may arrange their own insurance.
  6. Completed entry forms and payment must be received by 5pm on Friday 10 October 2025.
  7. Only submissions that meet the conditions above and received by the closing date will be accepted.

Delivery and handling of artwork

Work is to be delivered on Tuesday 21 October 2025 between 10 am – 1pm.

Artwork is to be delivered to the Little Theatre, Meander Valley Performing Arts Centre, 2 Meander Valley Road, Deloraine, TAS, 7304.

If sending by courier or post, please allow at least 7 to 10 days for delivery and address your parcel to: Meander Valley Council, 26 Lyall Street, Westbury, TAS 7303 (courier)‚ or PO Box 102, Westbury, TAS 7303 (post)

Once installed or hung, artwork will not be removed from display until after the conclusion of the exhibition, except by the exhibition coordinators.

Collection of artwork

At the close of the exhibition, all artwork that has not been sold must be collected from the Little Theatre at the Meander Valley Performing Arts Centre at one of the following times:

Sunday 9 November: 3 – 6 pm
Monday 10 November: 10 am – 1 pm

Work that is not collected will be held for 7 days before being disposed of at the exhibition coordinators’ discretion.
