Meander Valley Celebrating Community and Volunteer Award Winners
Under a perfect blue sky, the Meander Valley community gathered on the Westbury Village Green on Friday, 24 January, to celebrate, connect, and give thanks. A warm breeze drifted through as families, friends, and neighbours came together to honour community spirit and the dedication of local volunteers. A highlight of the night was welcoming Meander Valley’s newest Australian citizens. With proud smiles, they took their pledges, embraced by a community eager to support and celebrate them. Applause rang across the Village Green as they became part of the Meander Valley community. Local Aboriginal elder Uncle Hank Horton provided a Welcome to Country with a smoking ceremony that used a range of local tree species to acknowledge diversity within communities. The Westbury RSL volunteers worked tirelessly, ensuring everyone was well-fed and cared for—a true testament to the generosity that defines Meander Valley.
As the evening continued, the Volunteer Awards took centre stage. Each recipient was warmly celebrated for their dedication, from lifelong contributors to new volunteers already making an impact. More than just an event, the Meander Valley Community Celebration and Volunteer Awards showcased the strength, kindness, and generosity that make Meander Valley the vibrant community we are proud to call home.
