Public Interest Disclosures
The Meander Valley Council recognises the value of transparency and accountability in its administrative and management practices.
The Public Interest Disclosures Act 2002 provides an avenue for the making of disclosures of improper conduct by public officers and public bodies. The legislation also provides protection to persons who make disclosures in accordance with the Act and establishes a system for matters disclosed to be investigated and rectifying action to be taken.
Model procedures have been developed in consultation with the Ombudsman for Council to provide a system for reporting disclosures of improper conduct or detrimental action by Council or its employees.
