The start of a new era for Bracknell Memorial Hall
Posted on June 01, 2022
Industry challenges slowed the progress of Bracknell Memorial Hall, but the project is finally underway!
The building of a vibrant new community hall in Bracknell is about to commence, with demolition beginning this month and construction of a new building due in November of 2022.
“Council has been working closely with local sporting and community groups to design the new hall and we are excited to finally be at the construction stage. This is a particularly significant milestone when you take into consideration the difficulties facing the construction industry right now,” Mayor Wayne Johnston said.
Not unlike the private sector, Council has also had to overcome a number of challenges due to the high demand for labour and materials.
Mayor Johnston said Council officers have worked hard to adapt to the shortages and have even sourced and secured alternative materials where they could.
“Given the difficulties, it’s immensely satisfying to now see some boots on the ground, and we thank the Bracknell community for their patience and support,” he said.
The new hall will retain key artefacts from the original hall’s rich history and will have a dedicated foyer space to house memorabilia including the original signage and honour boards.
“A community hall is a township’s centrepiece and it was important to retain the history of the old Bracknell hall and incorporate this into the new design.”
The new building has been thoughtfully designed to complement the adjoining buildings and will provide the community with a multipurpose space that caters for a range of new user groups and activities.
With an open plan layout, the new hall will accommodate a gym, kitchen, storage, stage area and toilets.
The new Bracknell Hall has been funded by Council together with funding from the State Government and Federal Government’s Community Development Grants program.
