Conditions of Entry

Business Category

Open to all businesses located in Meander Valley with a current, valid address.

Businesses can decorate their shopfront façade or premises with festive lighting and festive decoration.

Household Category

Open to all households located within Meander Valley with a current valid residential address.

Households can decorate their premises/property street view with festive lighting and festive decoration.

Display Requirements

Displays should celebrate the holiday spirit and reflect community generosity.

Participants are encouraged to minimize waste and environmental impact in their decorations.

Entries close at 5pm on Thursday, 12 December.

Prize

One winning business will receive a $1,000 prize.

One winning household will receive a $1,000 prize.

Judging Criteria

Creativity and originality of the lighting display
Visual impact and festive appeal
Alignment with the theme of generosity and community spirit
Consideration of environmental sustainability and waste reduction

Judging will be completed from the photos submitted (and onsite inspections as required), please ensure you have a night-time photograph of the lighting display uploaded to the online form.

The decisions of judges will be final and not open to review.

Prize Winners Announcement

All entries will be showcased in an online slideshow and on Council’s website and digital display boards from 12 December to 4 January.

The winning entry will be announced by the Mayor on Friday 19 December 2025.

Guidelines - Agreement

A. Participation in the Grow the Glow competition is voluntary. By participating, entrants acknowledge and agree that Meander Valley Council is not responsible for, and accepts no responsibility or liability for, any loss, injury, damage, or harm (of any type) arising from or in connection with participation in the competition. Participants are responsible for ensuring that all decorations, lighting, electrical work, and related activities are carried out safely, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards. Participants are solely responsible for, and must take all reasonable precautions to, protect their own health and safety and that of others, and must not undertake any activity that could pose a risk to people or property.

B. Meander Valley Council is building a library of photos, videos, and other creative works that can be used by Council and others in various ways to promote Meander Valley as a place. By submitting a photo to the Grow the Glow competition, you are contributing your photo to this library in accordance with the terms and conditions below.

No, entry is free.

Can I update my registration after submitting?

Yes, you may update your photo or details by contacting the Community Wellbeing team before the registration deadline. No changes can be made after 5pm on Thursday, 12 December.

What kind of lighting is allowed?

Any festive lighting that is safe and suitable for outdoor display. Solar-powered or energy-efficient options are encouraged.

How will the winner be notified?

The winners will be announced publicly by the Mayor and contacted directly.
