Information for residents to assist with recovery after the 2022 flood event

Flood Recovery Grants and Disaster Payments

Tasmanian Government
Tasmanian Government Emergency Assistance Grants are available to assist people who have been directed or advised to evacuate from their residence or have been displaced by flooding, to obtain essential and appropriate shelter, clothing, food, transport and/or personal items. Services Australia (Formerly Centrelink)
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment and Disaster Recovery Allowance provides lump sum and/or income support payments to support those who have been flood affected. For more information, click here


Waste Disposal

Free access to waste facilities for those who have been flood affected
Council’s waste facilities are available free of charge for the disposal of flood-related waste until 5pm, Sunday 30 October at the Deloraine and Cluan waste facilities and until 3pm, Sunday 30 October at the Mole Creek waste facility. Council has also supported the Meander Progress Association by providing an additional bin at the Meander Transfer Station for local residents of Meander to dispose of any flood waste, available until Sunday 30 October.

Free annual hard waste collection service
Registrations for Council’s hard waste collection are open until 5pm, Friday 21 October. Council's Hard Waste Collection is undertaken every year and provides residents with an opportunity to dispose of bulky items. Residents must register to receive the service. To register, click here



Flood Recovery Drop-In Sessions

Mole Creek Hall
Council's next recovery drop-in will be held at the Mole Creek Hall from 10am-4pm on Wednesday 26 October. This session is to assist residents to access support and information including flood assistance grants for individuals and businesses and other recovery related services.


Support for Flood Impacted Businesses

Business Tasmania
Business Tasmania provides information about funding and support available to businesses in Tasmania. You can also register the impact the floods have had on your business with the Department of State Growth. For more information click here

Food Businesses
Council's Environmental Health team are here to assist food businesses who have been flood affected. If you have any questions or need more information about your specific service requirements after being flood damaged please contact Council on 6393 5300.
