Small Business Grants Program
Meander Valley Council has allocated grant funding to support small businesses to recommence operations after the COVID-19 Disease Emergency. Applications will be competitively assessed with grant amounts up to a maximum of $5,000 available as one-off payments to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and can demonstrate an adverse financial impact from the COVID-19 Disease Emergency.

Business support stickers
Council is supporting the production of a range of business support stickers to assist local businesses to advertise changes to their operations during COVID-19. Stickers are designed to be used in shopfronts and each sticker is 330mm x 330mm in size. There are three bright pink stickers to choose from and variations include:

• We are open for takeaways!
• Shop with us online!

Financial Hardship Assistance
Council recognises that some ratepayers may be experiencing serious financial hardship, particularly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to provide assistance, Council has adopted a Financial Hardship Assistance Policy. Under this policy, Council can provide relief from rates payments to those suffering genuine and serious financial hardship. For more information or to apply, click here
Doing business online
If you need help transitioning to an online business model or upgrading your existing online presence, there are a range of FREE resources to get you started.
Digital Ready Program
In response to COVID-19, registered businesses can now access a FREE two (2) hour coaching session with an expert digital coach to help with websites, social media, advertising, online tools, Google strategies and more. To book a FREE session phone 1800 955 660 or visit www.digitalready.tas.gov.au
Digital Solutions Program
This program is designed for the small business owner or start up businesses with an ABN and less than 20 employees. This program is FREE and help topics include:
• Building a successful website and selling online
• Building effective social media and digital marketing campaigns
• Implementing and managing small business software
• Online safety and data protection

COVID-19 Safety Plans
As part of the Tasmanian Government's plan to rebuild a stronger Tasmania, all workplaces wanting to continue or restart operations will need to have a COVID-19 safety plan in place. The Tasmanian Government's website contains information about the new requirements and useful templates. To get started, click here
Other support services
There are a range of grants, loans and funding packages are available for Tasmanian businesses who have been affected by COVID-19. Immediate support is available for the most severely impacted industries such as tourism, seafood, retail, hospitality, arts, entertainment and fitness.
