What can I put in my bins?
What goes where? How to sort your waste.
Approximately half of the waste collected in Meander Valley's kerbside bins is made up of organic food and garden waste and a further 15 percent is made up of recyclables that were placed in the waste bin by mistake. By diverting these products away from landfill we can reduce the cost and environmental impacts of waste management and improve Meander Valley's sustainability.
Sort more, landfill less
Putting the wrong items in your recycling bin can lead to an entire truckload being contaminated. If a truckload is unable to be processed, the only alternative is to send it to landfill. If you are unsure about an item, use Recycle Coach or contact Council to check. Otherwise, if in doubt, leave it out.
