- Only submissions that meet the conditions above and received by the closing date will be accepted.
Entry is open to all artists, aged 16 years and over.
- The theme for the 2024 exhibition is ‘Source’. Artwork submitted should illustrate the artist’s interpretation of the theme and relate to the Meander Valley municipality.
- Artists can submit one artwork only.
- Artwork submitted must have been completed within the last 12 months and must not have been previously exhibited elsewhere.
- All entries are eligible to receive one of the three major prizes and/or the People’s Choice. The Encouragement Award is restricted to emerging artists who have never won an award before.
- All painting and drawing media will be accepted, including, but not limited to, oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, ink, pencil, mixed media and printmaking. Artwork may contain a number of different elements and small amounts of photographic insertions. All artwork submitted must be the sole unaided work of the artist. Wet artwork or copies (prints or photographs) of original artwork will not be accepted.
- Digital artwork such as digital painting and drawing, 3D printing, fractal/algorithmic and/or vector art will be accepted. Digital art must be the sole work of the artist, not AI generated.

- Three-dimensional artwork may be created from a range of media including, but not limited to, recycled material, metal, ceramics, plastics, textiles and paper.
- Three-dimensional artwork must be free-standing and able to be safely handled by one person.
- Photography, video or audio artwork or artwork with interactive elements is not accepted this year.
- Presentation of the artwork must be of a high standard. Scratched or dented frames, badly cut mattes or framing that does not suit the artwork may result in rejection.
- Artwork must be clearly labelled on the back, lower right-hand side (two dimensional) or on the underside (three dimensional) with the artist’s name, title of the artwork, medium and sale price.
- Space limitations may not permit all artwork to be hung or displayed. If necessary, a selection committee will determine the artwork they consider most suitable for exhibition. Any artwork that does not strictly meet the criteria for exhibition may be excluded. The selection committee’s decisions are final.
- All digital images of entries may be reproduced and used whole or in part by the organisers for promotional purposes for publication in print, online and television media. Submitted artwork will also be displayed in an online gallery following the exhibition and archived online at the Meander Valley Council website.
- All awards are non-acquisitive, but all artwork must be for sale. There is no commission on sales.
