Lighting
Household lighting energy use in Tasmania has been rapidly increasing in recent years due to the construction of larger homes and the installation of more light fittings per home. Most homes could reduce the amount of energy they use for lighting by 50% or more by making smarter lighting choices and moving to more efficient technologies. To help you reduce your lighting costs and emissions Council have summarised the key facts about lighting and created a calculator to estimate replacement costs and benefits:
Sustainable House Day
Sustainable House Day is the only national event of its kind, offering a unique opportunity for the general public to view and access practical information on sustainable living from homeowners, who are living greener. To compliment the visitor experience builders, architects and designers, product and service providers are located at the homes to assist with information on what to do in your homes, sparking imagination for their own projects.
This free event brings information to the people keeping it in reach of even more Australians. The event generates collaborations between people, community groups, business and varying levels of state and federal government. Information and education shared has local and national significance.
