
Meander Valley Council has released the first draft of the new Meander Valley Planning Scheme for an initial phase of public comment. This comment period will close on the 15th February 2008.
This initial consultation phase will complete the first of three stages of public consultation that will be conducted before a new Planning Scheme is ultimately ratified by the Resource Planning and Development Commission (RPDC). A diagram of the steps involved in this process is included in fact sheet one (see below).
Documentation and maps are available for viewing at Council offices or alternatively the documentation is available for download on Council's website or hard copies can be purchased from Council's offices at a cost of $20 or $5 for a CD.

Over the past six years Council has put considerable effort and resources into a review of its Planning Scheme. The project has 2 stages:
The Land Use Strategy Paper - this document is now completed and available to the public.
The Planning Scheme - the first draft has been completed and public consultation process has commenced.

The Land Use and Development Strategy can be downloaded as a complete document or on a chapter by chapter basis according to interest. Indicative land Use Maps are also available as one document or an individual township basis.
A hard copy of the Strategy can be purchased from Council's Westbury Service centre or Deloraine Visitor Centre for $10.00 plus $2.50 postage and handling if mailing is required. Copies can also be obtained on CD from Council's Westbury Service centre for $5.
