Development: Westbury Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade (Level 2 Activity)
The upgrading of the Westbury Wastewater Treatment Plant by the addition to the existing treatment ponds of a tertiary treatment system, including a dissolved air flotation tank, sludge storage lagoons and UV disinfection unit.
The application has been referred to the Board of Environmental Management and Pollution Control (the EMPC Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPC Act). A Development Description and Environmental Management Plan (DDEMP) has been submitted in support of the application.
Public exhibition of documentation
A copy of the permit application, and of all plans and other documentation submitted with the permit application (including the DDEMP) are available for public inspection from Monday 23rd April, 2007 until Monday 21st May, 2007 and may be examined during normal business hours at the Meander Valley Council Chambers, 26 Lyall Street, Westbury.
Copies of the DDEMP may be purchased from Meander Valley Council at a cost of $25. A CD-Rom version is available at a cost of $10 of alternativly can be downloaded from the link below.
Public representations
In accordance with s.57(5) of the LUPA Act, any person may make a representation relating to the permit application (including the DDEMP) from Monday 23rd April, 2007 to 5pm on Monday 21st May, 2007 to The General Manager, PO Box 102, Westbury, 7303.
Other information received by the EMPC Board relating to the environmental impact of the proposal prior to the EMPC Board completing its assessment, will be made available upon request from the Director of Environmental Management (GPO Box 44, Hobart, 7001, or fax: 03 6233 6800).
If the person making a representation wishes it to remain confidential, then this should be requested in the representation, along with the basis upon which the request is made.
