Cycling Criterium, Westbury - Sunday 4^th October 2009

For the purpose of conducting the Shaw Contracting - Westbury Cycling Criterium the road closures listed below will apply under the provisions of the Local Government (Highways) Act 1982.

The following roads in Westbury will be closed between the hours of 11:00am and 2:00pm:

• Lyall Street - between Lonsdale Promenade & William Street
• William Street - between Lyall and Dexter Street
• Dexter Street - between William and Adelaide Street
• Adelaide Street - between Dexter and Lyall Street
• King Street - between William and Adelaide Street
• Lonsdale Promenade - between King Street to approximately 100 metres past Lyall Street corner.

River Road, Deloraine - Sunday 4^th October 2009

This road closure will apply under the provisions of the Local Government (Highways) Act 1982 for the purpose of conducting the 'Meander Valley 8 Fun Run and Walk'.

The following roads will be closed between the hours of 11:00am to 12:30pm:

• West Parade and River Road - from Bonney Street north-east for 2.8km.

Westwood Road, Hagley - Monday 5^th October 2009

The travelling public is advised that Westwood Road, Hagley will be closed to through traffic from 08:30am until 10:30am on Thursday 1^st October 2009 due to a site investigation at Murfetts Creek.

Council apologises for any inconvenience incurred due to these works

Council wishes to advise the travelling public that roadworks are to commence from Saturday 5^th September 2009 to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of Westbury Road and Mt Leslie Road, Prospect Vale.  It is anticipated that works will take approximately 8 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Variable message boards and other signage will be used to assist motorists to navigate through the worksite, however some delays should be expected.  Please obey all directions and drive safely.

Provision of an Aquatic Centre in Westbury

A petition, calling for a public meeting to discuss a Westbury Aquatic Centre was received by Council at the April 2009 Council meeting.

A full report was presented at the May Council meeting with the following recommendation approved:
1.  That Council receive the information regarding the petition presented by Mrs Lexie Brient; and
2.  That Council conduct a public forum before the end of June2009 to discuss the matter.

A public forum was held on Tuesday 30th June 2009 and was attended by 22 residents, The Hon Greg Hall, MLC, Mayor Shelton, Deputy Mayor Loone, Councillors Fellows, Nowell and Richardson, and 5 members of Council staff.

The forum discussed and considered:
-  type and size of facility;
-  likely users;
-  cost;
-  location and
-  funding.

Council is continuing to seek the community's input through the completion of the attached survey. 

The information provided by the survey will be used to prepare a report for Council's consideration.

Survey forms must be completed by COB Friday 31st July 2009
