Townscape Rate Incentive Grant Scheme
The main ideas behind this scheme are to improve the appearance of the buildings for locals and tourists, and to see our older historic buildings properly restored in reasonably authentic colour schemes. Of course some buildings are more suitable and in better position to create an impact than others, making the calculating of the grant a difficult decision. This is even harder when we consider that some property owners pay far higher rates than others. It was decided that the grant incentive payment would be based on a percentage of the rates and charges of the financial year in which the Application was made with a maximum amount of $500. In making this decision it was felt that this scheme ought to be an "incentive" rather than for Council to pay large amounts of the restoration costs.
