Since the introduction of Meander Valley Council's new kerbside waste collection system the collection contractor has noticed that a few residents are confused as to which bin is which. The bin with the RED LID is for your weekly garbage collection and the bin with the YELLOW LID is for your fortnightly recycling collection.
By now it is envisaged that all recycling bins will have been supplied with a yellow lid. If this is not the case please contact Council on 6393 5300 and a time will be arranged for the changeover to take place. Should you find that your recycling bin is either too large or too small please contact Council for an upgrade or downgrade.
Remember that all plastics with a number between 1 and 5, steel, aluminium, paper and cardboard can be deposited loose into your recycling bin - please do not enclose your recycling in plastic bags as this creates time losses at the recycling sorting centre. It is imperative that no rubbish or green waste is to be placed in the recycling bin as one bin load of garbage will contaminate a truck load of recycling and the whole load may have to be dumped at a refuse disposal site. Repeat offences of this practice will lead to a cessation of collection from the property in question.
Please use your garbage bin for household refuse only, building rubble, soil and rocks are not to be placed in the bins as they create too much weight and the truck's arm is unable to pick the bin up.

Meander Valley Council would like to remind its residents that the new garbage system was begun in 2007 with both garbage and recycling collections being undertaken.
