Water Supply

Meander Valley Council maintains 8 separate water supply and reticulation systems in the areas of Prospect/Blackstone, Carrick, Bracknell, Westbury/Hagley, Exton, Deloraine and Mole Creek. The Prospect/Blackstone, Hadspen and Carrick schemes are fully treated with water being supplied by the regional bulk water authority, Esk Water. The Deloraine scheme is fully treated and the other schemes with the exception of Mole Creek are chlorinated.

With the exception of Mole Creek all properties supplied with town water are fitted with water meters adjacent to the stop tap near the front boundary. You are required to keep the area around your meter clear to allow access for the meter reader and you are also responsible to ensure that the meter and stop tap are not damaged by lawnmowers or vehicles.

Council has changed to a "user pays" system whereby all properties pay a fixed annual charge to cover the cost of the mains, reservoirs, treatment plants, etc. plus a charge for water based on the actual volume of water used.

Leaks or other problems with the water reticulation system beyond the property boundary should be reported to Council as soon as possible for repair.

PLEASE NOTEFrom 01 July 2009 all these schemes will be owned and operated by a new Regional Water and Sewerage Authority.
