Expressions sought for Meander School site

Expressions sought for Meander School site

16 November 2015

Council is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from those interested in establishing a community use for the former Meander school site.

Meander School closed at the end of 2014. Earlier this year, Council accepted the Tasmanian Government’s offer to take ownership of the former school site.

Council is committed to work with the Meander community to achieve the best possible community use of the facility said Mayor Craig Perkins.

‘We are keen to identify a suitable use for the site—one which will provide long term benefits to the people of Meander and the surrounding districts, said Mayor Perkins.

‘The expression of interest is just the first step in the process.

‘We have been approached informally by a number of community based organisations in relation to proposed uses for the site.

‘Once we receive the EOIs we will work with the community to determine which one will be most beneficial for the area.’

Expressions of interest must be received by Council before 5pm on Friday 11 December 2015. Details are available on Council’s website www.meander.tas.gov.au
