YOUTH WEEK TASMANIA - MEANDER VALLEY 2018
Deloraine Trade Training Centre (DHS), Deloraine House, Meander Valley Council, Deloraine Junior Basketball Club and LINC Deloraine are working together to provide activities between 13 – 22 April 2018. This program is supported by Rotary Club of Deloraine and Tasmanian Government
EVENT: COURTSIDE CONVERSATIONS. –Eleventh Hour 3 on 3 Basketball Lockout.
DATE: Friday 13 April
TIME: 6pm – 11pm
LOCATION: Deloraine Community Complex – Alveston Drive Deloraine
DESCRIPTION: For young people between 12 – 25 years. BBQ at 6pm. Doors close 6.30pm. No re-entry. Then it is non-stop basketball through until the Eleventh Hour (11pm)
3 on 3 half court round robin basketball ‘Slamboree’ plus half time shootouts for 3 points, foul shots and lay-ups. Guest speaker. Booking essential for catering and organisation.

EVENT: CRAZY COMPETITIONS & CREDIBLE CONVERSATIONS – games day
DATE: Saturday 14 April
DESCRIPTION: A day of fun and crazy competition, challenge and conversations organised by young adults for young people 10 – 16 years. Bring a team of 8 or join a team on the day. Lunch provided. You could get wet and you could get dirty. Booking essential for catering and organisation.

DESCRIPTION: Want to try your hand at art in a wild, exciting, exhilarating format with no skills needed, then book into the art workshop with Fakie and Annette and be surprised. 24 places available. Bookings essential no later than Friday 13 April

EVENT: CREATIVE CONVERSATIONS – A picture paints a thousand words – Art Workshop 2
DATE: Thursday 19 April
DESCRIPTION: Would you like the opportunity to work with internationally renowned artist Tony Smibert and local artist Hugh MacKinnon? Are you interested in watercolour and sketching? Tony is offering to tutor 12 young people between 12–25 yrs who are really keen to learn. Tony has provided the Inquiring Mind Award over the last few years at the Deloraine High School. Booking essential before Monday 8 April

EVENT: COOKERY AND CONVERSATIONS
DATE: Friday 20 April & Saturday 21 April (1 or both days)
DESCRIPTION: This is an opportunity to work with a chef and learn new skills while baking cakes and biscuits for a Conversations Café on Sunday 22 April. 16 places available each day.

EVENT: CAFÉ CONVERSATIONS – Barista course
DATE: Friday 20 April or Saturday 21 April. (One day course)
DESCRIPTION: Learn the art of coffee making. This training is recognised by local businesses. Trained young people will have the opportunity to serve guests at the Conversation Café on Sunday 22 April. Bookings are essential. 12 places each day

EVENT: COFFEE, CAKE AND CONVERSATIONS CAFÉ – community event
DATE: Sunday 22 April
DESCRIPTION: Be entertained and inspired by young people and their achievements while enjoying coffee cake and conversations in a ‘world style café’. This is an opportunity for young and old to join together to celebrate the achievements of young people and have conversations. Young people will be entertaining, sharing their journeys, serving coffee and showcasing their talents. If you are a young person and would like to share your story over the PA system or have it recorded in a booklet please contact Vicki. Likewise if you would like to perform on the evening please call.
